Hi,

I originally wasn’t really considering liberty because it’s a relatively new school. but the cost of AZCOM is super overwhelming. It’s a 116k dif.

I calculated my chances of not getting internal, fam, peds or surgery (since this is what I think Id not want as of right now) at both Schools and they are both 30%.

Another thing is liberty has like 2-3% lower than national pass rate for complex exams whereas Midwestern is higher or at avg.

Any input on usmle pass rate, rotation sites, how omm heavy the school is would be appreciated! I don’t really care about the environment I care about my cost and success. Thanks so much.

AZCOM is a great school with good rotations but it is so hard to justify the price. You can still be equally successful at liberty and save yourself 116k + interest

@Goro what do you think of these pass rates?

Meh, but not really bad. I'd say the school has trouble letting go of problematic students, attracts too many of them, or can't help them get ready for COMLEX.
Thank you. So you dont think it’s a problem like novas?

Read carefully about Nova: Two of the four last years have declining first-time COMLEX pass rates. The last two years for which we have data are in the low 90s. They still have yet to post data for the 2019-20 cycle, which is fishy. Some 7% of their 2018 grads failed to match, ditto 4% of their Class of 2019. There are also signs of significant delay to graduation in these numbers. That’s still not good for a veteran school. I’d expect > 95% pass rates and match rates closer to 100%. These problems are you expect from a new school. Something is very wrong there. See: Residency Match Data and COMLEX Level 3 Board Scores | NSU COM

It's not just about COMLEX pass rates.

@Goro im waitlisted by UCI And touro ca (post interview), waiting to hear back (post interview) from u of a Phoenix, PCOM and KCUCOM, and just submitted my secondary to UCR (I think they heavily screen and were behind schedule this year so this is a valuable step).

By dec 14th I have to decide based on schools I’m in—LUCOM and AZCOM. LUCOM is a 2k deposit whereas AZCOM is $200. I’ve read where you’ve described the deposit as insurance so I’ll bite the bullet even if it’s 2k.... but would you choose LUCOM to save 120k or AZCOM for better COMLEX pass rate, more established reputation, and optional lectures? Those are the differences that matter to me but I don’t know what’s more important in the long run!

I'm not Goro, not even a med student yet, but I would say AZCOM. There are schools on your list you are waiting on that I know would top your list so letting go of Liberty is not a huge loss. You would be out much less money on your "insurance" while you wait for schools you prefer, but will also have a great school to fall back on that would make you a great doctor if you got in nowhere else. Good luck!
