After passing the COMLEX, does each state require you to take a licensure exam for that particular state?

For example, once done with school and COMLEX, and wanting to practice in California, is it required to take a California Board exam? If so, what are the steps to licensure in a given state?

To be honest, I am not 100% sure, but I do NOT think you have to take a licensure exam specific to each state. As far as I am aware, you can practice anywhere you choose once you are licensed. 🙄
