doesn't sound worth it. it's not like you're going to get a huge advantage by saying you are 35 instead of 38 or something. also, you need to request transcripts and such and the school years are going to be off, and transcripts might say personal information on them such as your real birthdate.

One of the schools I applied to required a copy of my birth certificate. At orientation, we had to do a background check; I wonder if age comes up on those.

Wouldn't be a very efficient background check if they can't even tell where your background begins...

Lying about stuff like that will not help your "friend." I think they would figure it out real fast. Plus, hypothetically, if you got away with it, or some other lie, and were later found out, you could get kicked out. Not worth it.

Plus I don't think age is as big a deal as people make of it as long is the app is strong.

Am I the only one bothered by the spelling "lieing." People who are unable to spell simple words like "lying" drive me crazy, especially if they want to be doctors. No offense... (I said no offense so it wouldn't sound as rude)

I thought it looked weird, but being human I automatically thought that I had been spelling it wrong or something...

Am I the only one bothered that the first segment of your post, "Am I the only one bothered by the spelling "lieing."" is actually a question and as such, should be punctuated with a question mark? People who are unable to use simple grammar drive me crazy. (I didn't say no offense, because I want it to sound like I'm being an a**).

lol who says that?

that is the meaning of the phrase 'no offense'
people think they can make an insult or derogatory remark, follow it with the phrase 'no offense' and still not be perceived as a jerk, even though the original remarks were indeed meant as an insult.

haha what I meant was, nobody says "no offense" or a similar phrase and then explains directly afterward how they want the other person to interpret the comment.

Sometimes, I think, the "no offense" is necessary. For instance, when someone is obviously doing something that is a bad idea, and needs to be called out, but you don't want to be a complete a** about it. No? But I totally get what you mean. It's the, " I said no offense, so therefor my thoughtless and cruel comment should be taken as kindness," kind of thing.

Shoot... I can't believe I punctuated my question improperly. I'm never getting in to med school; I might as well give up now. Thank you for opening my eyes.
