In Texas, we just passed Proposition 12, which caps the punitive damages in medical malpractice. No one knows yet what the effect will be, but I am hopeful the ridiculous Ob-Gyn lawsuits will decrease.

For those out there who want to be Ob-Gyns but are worried about malpractice... There are still lots of options. Do a fellowship in REI ($$$), perinatology (prevent bad outcomes), or just be a gynecologist.

I'm so glad that Prop 12 passed, but the part of OB/Gyn that I'm really interested in is OB...

So tragic.

I hope things will continue to improve for this field.

I am glad Prop 12 passsed (barely). However, following the debates prior to the vote has led me to believe that unfortunately Prop 12 is not the panacea that us medical folks wish it were. There are so many stats about states with similar legilation that haven't done much for premiums. All we can do is hope for the best.
