we all do it a couple hundred times in our lives...

so far, i made a post on my basic situation, back to school after trying to raise my family, yadda yadda, and everyone says work hard 100%.

here is the path that i think i've built (please fill in any holes you see):

1) Finish up remaining classes to Spring 09 and transfer from CC to UC Davis as a Junior
2) Take Upperlevel Bio's classes to get a BS in BioSci
3) Study and take DAT?
4) Apply.

i'm pretty much in the dark regarding the process..i read a lot of things like applying as a 3rd year predental..but the thing is i'm transferring as a 3rd year, and was advised to take the upper level sci classes at the univ level..so a year to cram things in for the DAT is a bit too short imho.

i currently am earning a 3.5 gpa est/ with this semesters core classes coming to a close.

i want in at UoP since i'm a SF native.

thanks guys!

you could do some shadowing if you havent already done so

Why not UCSF?

yes i'm considering ucsf, ucsd, nyu and the others as my secondaries...but ya, also forgot to put shadowing in there, as i am doing it this summer. i just want to know what i have ahead of me and things i should look out for, or helpful tips.

you can take the dat this coming summer after you finished bio, chem, and ochem (core classes) at CC.

ucsd? i dont think they have a dental school.........i would definetly apply to more than 3-4 schools.

you dont have to apply your 3rd year if you dont feel ready. you can apply your senior year.

i know people who transfered after 2 years at cc to university and applied their 3 year. they applied in may of their junior year and took the date june/july.

there really isnt a magic formula for getting dental school. just got to have good gpa, dat, EC, lors, ps, and apply early, then you should have a pretty good chance.
