In destroyer, #50, it says that oxygen and water are by products of the light reaction...

Is there something I'm missing here, or is that incorrect?
Thanks

This occurs in photosystem, water replenishes p680 electrons. The by product is 1/2 O2 and 2H+. Technically that makes water 4H + 2O = 2H2O, maybe in that sense water is a byproduct?

That's a far stretch, IMO.

Water is better classified as a "reactant" with this approach. With H+ and O2 as the "by product."

I'm just making sure I'm not missing something major here...

You are correct. Water gets split to replace the electrons in PSII. Don't know why it's called a product of the reaction.
