I finally understand the line counting method for TFE and I was wondering if I should get in a habit of using it or will it not work on the real PAT?

from what i read from people on here, it works on CDP, but unfortunately does NOT work on the real DAT 🙁..it was working for me on CDP but im actually about to work on it now without it

There were one or two freebies that line counting worked for but thats about it. Practice without line counting.

Will line counting on most problems, narrow your choices down to 2 or 3 answers?

On the real DAT it might eliminate one wrong answer, but it's going to be the obviously wrong answer anyway. It's a nice tool to have and I think it helps you understand TFE a little better, but the point is don't become reliant on it because it won't take you all the way on the real DAT

I've been doing line counting too and it works nicely but I guess I should stop that huh...

Line counting will not work on the real DAT, maybe one/two questions. I started using that method during practice tests and then I just started to visualize the object in 3D. You must have this 3D ability to truly conquer the PAT.

Line counting can only maybe eliminate 1 wrong answer choice on the real DAT. For TFE, I visualized what the object looked like in 3D in my mind, then rotated it mentally to determine what each face looked like. It may be hard in the beginning, but with more practice it will definitely become second nature. I believe some PAT software out there has a 3D model that you can rotate when viewing answer solutions. I forgot if it was CDP, Achiever, or TopScore. But anywho, the mental 3D method seems nearly bulletproof to me.

Thanks everyone! I will no longer try the line counting method before I get in a bad habit of relying on it lol
