I've also shadowed some doctors in my family, but nothing to really be happy about.

Of those, should I use my 15 spots? Is it better to listen and only pick the really really good ones? Also, I know I should have submitted, but im still working on my PS (studying makes it hard, but I will get it done soon).

I've never seen anyone post this, and I swear im not trying to be a braggard or the like. I dont even know if what I've done is good for medical school...

Thanks in advance

i suggest you list yours from most important to least.. also categorize them into arts.. research.. etc and rank them again.. maybe use top two or three from each category? what do other people think

Use all fifteen. They are all good. My premed advisor said you should have A LOT of ECs. The really good applicants even double-up on their listings. For example, if you've held multiple offices within an organization, you should list them all as one EC so you have more spaces to fill in your other experiences.

do people agree with this assesment? I feel listing even experiences that arent significant will dilute the importance of the other experiences, but i guess this statment may just be a cliche. What do you think??

I think you should use all of these. They are all relevant to being a well-rounded person and show that you can handle a diverse and heavy workload. None of these experiences stand out as being too "under-water basket weaving" like. Good luck!

Well, maybe the scuba does have a bit of a underwater basket weaving component. I still think it's good though.

That SCUBA listing rocks; it will probably be a topic of conversation at your interviews.

I'd keep all of the ECs. They make me cower and hide my face in shame 🙁

This is not necessarily true. As it has been said before, the rule is quality, not quantity. An applicant that has 8 solid ECs they were dedicated can definitely be better than someone who dabbled in 15+ different ECs.

To the OP: I would use all of these. Like someone said, they ake me hang my head in shame...I feel like I have wasted my time lafter ooking at all this stuff. A while ago, someone posted asking what they could do that seemed unique. Well they need look no further than your list, considering you have about 5 very unique experiences that I wish I could have had. Also, please tell me you are not a reapplicant...if you got denied with this kind of stuff (given good GPA/MCAT), I think I will just quit now.

I am a traditional student. But some of the stuff wasn't entirely done in college, the first business i started was with my brother when he was a freshman, back then I was a sophomore in college. As for the SCUBA stuff I've been diving regularly since I was 13. Drums aren't a big deal, in fact my girlfriend thinks I shouldn't even put that on there because, "no one likes 'drummers'." Heh. I do appreciate all of your guys responses, and as for why I put so much time into my extra-curriculars, its because I was a burnout in high school, bad grades, experiences, trouble in general, so when I got to college my dad told me that I had one chance or he would yank my ass out of school and I'd be on my own. I buckled down and did what I had to do. A lot of the stuff wasn't time consuming on a weekly basis, so it wasn't like I was doing these every week.

You should be happy with what you've done, and if adcoms don't like you, too bad for them.

Thanks again, I appreciate it.
