What schools do you know does NOT have a secondary essay? This is my second time applying and for me, those schools were great since it did not require a secondary essay. So please, lets start a list, it will be very helpful for people applying this year, thanks guys! I'll start with what I know:

Boston University
Harvard University

Boston University
Harvard University
UCSF (unless you checked that you were disadvantaged).
NYMC
NYU
Columbia
UMDNJ-RWJ
Albert Einstein

SUNY Buffalo
University of Rochester
Wright State
Cornell (except what you're doing during the year off)

tmla, I PM'd you, but maybe you haven't seen it. I think if you renamed this thread, including something about schools with no secondaries (by clicking on the little pencil icon above your post), it would get more responses and be helpful to more people.

Indiana and Mayo didn't have secondaries, but Mayo has the phone interview of course . . . which I'd much rather do in 30 minutes than fill out a secondary any day.

Finch...the tradeoff being you start school in JULY!

yay for no secondaries for 25% of my schools! this is a pleasant surprise. 🙂

Dartmouth

Also... Columbia and NYU have essays on their primaries.... and have no secondaries. They are not a part of AMCAS and have essays.

I remember Dartmouth having 2 essays.

MCW has no essays on its secondary.

No essays:
Boston University
Harvard University
UCSF
NYMC
UMDNJ-RWJ
Albert Einstein
SUNY Buffalo
University of Rochester
Wright State
Cornell
Indiana
Mayo
Finch
MCW

Unsure:
NYU
Columbia
Dartmouth

Columbia's essay can easily accept a slightly revamped AMCAS PS. I would put it in the no additional essays category.

SMW -

Thanks for the suggestion! Please keep the list coming guys, this is really helpful.. especially for those who are applying to a lot of schools.

perhaps we should also have a list of schools that send secondaries without screening???? i.e. schools that send secondaries to ALL applicants. I think it might help us decide which schools to not weed out. 🙂

i think almost all except vanderbilt (sends secondaries only if you are going to have an interview - at least a year ago it was like that)

ut houston and utmb (galveston) did not have 2ndaries last year, but you'll need to fill out the texas apps

I remember Cornell having at least one small essay about why you wanted to go there. So I wouldn't say there is no secondary.

Stanford only had one optional essay too.

Cincinnati didn't have any essays this year, but I have heard they normally do.

University of Alabama in Birmingham has no secondary essay.

Since this is not my thread, I don't really want to mess anything up, but as El Jefe said, Cornell needs to be removed. It has an essay a "Why would you go to Cornell" type.

A little off topic, but can anyone tell me the best way to do paper secondaries. Can you scan them and then do them on the computer, or am I definitley gonna have to get a hold of a typewriter? If you can scan them, can someone tell me how. I am not too familiar with the process. Is it horribly bad to just print really neatly?

Also, on secondaries where they ask "Is there any additional information you would like to provide...," what kind of stuff is everyone writing (if any)?

For Jefferson's secondary, I printed out the paper version to look at it, and it did not have a question similar to the one above, but the online version does. Just thought that was kind of strange.
