Well I've seen some ppl drop a line about this, so why not just to have some guys/gals who know their stuff have an input on this.
So here it goes, DAT: To take end of July, beg of Aug. (shooting for 21)
GPA: 3.31 Sci GPA: I'm not familiar on how to calculate this (I just posted a threat about it)
I may add Im a FL resident, UF student, shadowed in private practice (ortho) and assisting dental students (UF) + mission trip (Central America), did research in Pediatric dentistry field (2 semesters), and Im a Army Vet.
I could say other than the GPA what hurts my application is the fact that my academic career has been interrupted several times by mobilizations through the army reserve.

And well....most of the schools on the list picked for # out of state spots.
So lets hear your thoughts,

Thank you in advance.

Arizona School of Dentistry
U. of Florida
Nova U.
U. of Pacific
U. San Francisco
U. Loma Linda
U. of Louisville
U. of Maryland
Boston U.
NYU
Columbia U.
Case Dental School
U. of Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh U.
Virginia U.
Marquette U.

I think UPenn, UoP, and Columbia all have pretty high standards. I would probably save money on those 3 schools

edit: i mean to type UCSF instead of UoP =)

Take out Upenn and UCSF. Keep Columbia if you want. They look for people with high DAT scores. Assuming you can hit a 21+ across the board, your chances are fine for Columbia.

Add Tufts.

Actually, keep Upenn. No harm in trying. UCSF, you might wanna take out.

Wont actually add Tufts, I have some sciences that are community college, and Tufts doesnt accept community college credits (zero tolerance)
Thanks tho

I know of somebody that got in with average scores to UoP, He/she was in the army and went to iraq. I would apply anyway. They also want you to step out of the crowd in someway.... UCSF is a research base university so they might pay attention to the research that u have done.

UoP isn't necessarily competitive. They just like people who apply really early, since most of their class fills up by December. Awesome school, nonetheless!
