Last time I checked, there are about 56 dental schools in the US. :wow:

The advice given when taking prerequisites is that there are required courses and recommended courses, and this all depends on the dental school that you're applying to. I guess it makes sense that a pre-dent student would know that type of decision so early on in the scheme of things?

I can't seem to find any information which narrows down the choices for an applicant. For instance, college A recommends physics, regardless of whether it's algebra or calculus based. College B recommends specifically calculus based physics. Then, most schools require or recommend "this class" but not every school requires or they only recommend it.
:boom:
With 56 dental school websites to pull up and read through, +pissed+ I keep hoping to come across a spreadsheet somewhere that has a list put together. :help: It would make the choices of where I'd like to apply a little better, instead of taking an unnecessary class for the sake of using my application like a lottery ticket.

We're all going to be working hard at this three-ringed circus just to get to the finish line. In a field that's about dental healthcare and helping others, it would be great if those who took the time to put together the list of prerequisites for dental school didn't throw one of those ninja obstacle courses in the way.
:highfive:

The general consensus is General Chemistry I/II, Orgo I/II, Biochemistry (1 semester at least), Biology I/II . For specifics I would just google the school you are interested in to double check. Some require microbio most commonly

Thanks Alpha Centauri! I've already finished everything except biochemistry and algebra based physics 2. In orgo 2 and stats now. If I don't have to take algebra based physics, or even calculus based physics (I haven't taken calculus yet), I'd like to get on with it and just work and have time for my kids the months before dental school. I don't mind taking biochem. It sounds interesting and wish I had time for polymer chemistry. I'm in a research team now, synthesizing biodiesel from used cooking oil.

If you're a member of ASDA you'll receive a book in the mail of all of the dental schools and their stats / requirements.

I wouldn't worry about calculus physics, but you will likely need algebra based physics 2. That and biochem SHOULD do the trick. During the application cycle I would also look into microbiology the following semester because just in case things don't work out during your cycle, you at least have something to show for the following cycle.

I've already taken microbiology. Home stretch!!
