Is there any truth to what I saw (I believe somewhere on SDN) that you shouldn't include a course as "planned or in progress" if only some of the schools require it? I'm applying to 8 or 9 schools, and only 2 of them, Stony Brook and Harvard, require calculus. Can including calculus as "planned" for next year on AADSAS cause other schools to accept me on the condition I take calculus (although they normally don't require it)?
With Harvard there's a workaround as you can mention it on their supplemental but Stony Brook doesn't have one. If I don't include it as planned, will they contact me and ask me about it etc. or will they just reject it?

Anybody have answers to any of the above? Thanks

Include it IF you are planning to take it before you graduate. Otherwise, don't. Taking an extra class can only help you.

I only plan on taking it if I get interview/acceptance and decide to go to either of these schools. That's why I'm saying I don't want to be held to it by other schools.

If you list it as planned, schools expect you to complete it before you graduate. It does not matter if it is not a prereq or not. Just keep in mind that schools might verify your transcript before you enroll, even if you are offered. You don't want to give false information or lying on your application, even if it is unintentional.

Just take calculus if you really want to apply to Harvard

A few schools I applied to required anatomy or some other course I can't remember now. I listed them as planned in case those were the only schools I was accepted to. I ended up somewhere that didn't need it, I didn't take either of the planned courses I listed, and afaik I'm starting in the fall. I don't think it's as big of a deal as its made out to be. That said, I really did try to enroll in some of the courses but they filled up so I really didn't have a choice. Maybe my school is just chill about it but I wouldn't worry too much.
