so i took my DAT LAST summer (before DENTPIN I believe) and only designated 5 schools (free ones) for them to send to scores to.

but now, each school says they need the official score. At first, I was under the impression that AADSAS will send the scores to all of them if the dates of the DAT appear on the app. but now... i am not so sure. Do i need to pay extra for them to send it to other schools that I did not designate? or am i good? thanks

wait...did u send those scores out last year? if so...the free-ness is over....if u r reapplying.....u have to request them be sent again by the ADA..its $25 per copy and you have to send them to every school

I re-applied this year with the same scores as last year and did not request the ADA to send my scores to any schools. I applied to 14 schools and ALL the schools said they have my scores on file and I never even had to pay the ADA this cycle.

waiiiiit so which is it, even more confused now lol

but i guess i should send them again just to be safe...

soo another question:

what is the point of the official DAT score section on the AADSAS app? there is a date listed for mine...

In previous cycles it was necessary for applicants to input each individual section score for the DAT, but this year all you have to do is enter your DENTPIN and AADSAS will be able to get your scores from the ADA. The date listed by yours is the date you took the DAT and the date when AADSAS received those scores from the ADA to input into your application.

dont send them to every school and waste your money for no reason! i applied to 17 schools so i called all of them and only 2 requested an official copy!! save yourself a lot of money and call them first it only takes two seconds!

but if the schools say they want the official report via supplemental section, does that mean i have to request it? (even the freebies i used last year?)

well i checked, only midwestern, western, and penn needs official DAT scores according to the AADSAS supplemental information. So i guess ill just send to these schools.

AADSAS' information should be correct right? cuz if not.....

It would be best if you just call your schools and ask. It doesn't take that long and you could save a lot of money..

Yea I would definitely still call each school individually just to be sure. Like they said, it really doesn't take long and it'll be better in the long run.

Did you apply last year? or did you just take your DAT last year with the intentions of applying this cycle (that's what I did)
If that's the case, your free-bies will definitely still work because the schools will have them waiting in your file.. if you applied last year and are applying again, i would just call and make sure they still have it (most should, but you don't want to chance it if they discarded it for some reason..)

But yeah this year has been really confusing with the whole dentpin thing, because some schools see it as pointless for us to send our official score to them from teh ADA, because dentpin gives them our real score (i guess in years past they needed the official report because there would be discrepancies as to what people entered on AADSAS and what their actual score was) but now that there is dentpin, we really shouldn't have to send the official report.. but some schools still like to have it i guess, so definitely call so you don't miss anyone or waste your money!

most schools do require the official report. If you're talking about the ADA official report, midwestern and western told me they only take AADSAS official report (whatever goes through aadsas is also official).

some schools will accept the faxed copy of your unofficial report from the testing center, but they still require the official one from AADSAS.

i started a thread on this topic a couple months ago and it seems every school is different. ive applied to 15 and only 2 so far "require" an official copy sent from ADA, although an admissions person from 1 of these schools told me to "send it just to be safe". i guess its worth $25 to be safe....who knows

somebody from ADA or AADSAS needs to make a decision whether official ADA copies sent from us are necessary and have all schools comply

I contacted Temple and they told me that if i am releasing the scores to the school, then the ADA will send them directly to AADSAS, so I won't have to send a second copy of the score to the school. The score will apparently be reported on my AADSAS application.

does this mean if i didnt check temple as one of the 5 schools from my test, I have to pay 25 dollars again? (I know I should've followed up with this question, but I wasn't thinking straight -_-)

i am even more confused now. USC told me that i do not need to send an official report since if u designated a participating school to began with, there will be no need to send them an official score report since they can access it via DENTPIN 😵

does that theyll get it even if i didnt designate USC as one of the schools

ok, for those wondering... after calling all the schools, they told me the schools i chose last year (before DENTPIN) should still be in effect.

however, I got mixed answers from schools that I didn't choose at the time... some even told me to go check with the ADA. Dunno if this is helpful or not since most of you are done with this stuff
