Hey everyone.

I graduated a year ago with a 3.51 in psych. My senior year and very last semester I took a Bio psych class and was hooked. Since then I've I've been trying to beef up my resume with bio psych in mind. Currently I'm working at a neuroscience lab as a research assistant. I eventually will be published in a journal but the process is very long. It's taken a year just get the pilot sent out.

With my experience here at the lab I realize I really would be happiest in neurology based work and am aiming for a career in clinical neurophysiology. At one point I thought about being a Neurologist but with no sciences and the highly competitive nature of med schools I feel I'd be starting too late for such a commitment. However, I never consider any option closed.

So anyway. My question/questions are:
1. What Post bac's are good for students who have little to no science experience?

2. Besides a dedication to academic excellence what does it take for someone with 0 science knowledge to be succesful in a pre med post bac?

First post here so I'm looking forward to everyone's responses.
Thanks.

To take bio physio - does that mean u have to have already taken intro bio and intro chem? Thats how it was at my UG

If so, you'd be ineligible for most post-bacs

How many of the pre-reqs did you take? and how did you do in them?

Thanks for catching that. I meant to say Bio Psych not Bio Physio.

Ok - then whats bio psych?

Anyways, my questions still hold - which of the prereqs have you done? and how did you do in them?

Bio psych is just another way of saying Behavioral neuroscience. It's looking at human behaviors on a neurological level. What happens when someone you care for grabs your hand. Or how can brain diseases, which have altered neural firing, change someones motor functions.

No pre reqs. Besides an English comp course which I did well in. From day one I was dead set being a clinical psychologist until I realized how awesome neurology was.

You're actually better off with none of the pre-reqs. Most of the better post-bacc programs require you to have taken no more than one or two of them at the most. Look for programs specifically for "career changers."
