Are there any CT Anesthesia fellowships that are part-time attending or with adequate moonlighting opportunities to allow a practicing anesthesiologist to train while still being able to support his family, pay his mortgage, pay his loans, etc.?
I do a lot of cardiac and thoracic now, but I think only fellowship training gets respect when applying for new jobs.

You can make decent money at Brigham moonlighting, but how much time does a person have for that?
I need time with my family, so just drew down savings when I did a mid-career fellowship.

When I looked into Rochester, they had an off-cycle spot. Would have taken you on as junior staff until Jan, at which point you then began your fellowship. Of course, you would end the following December.

I liked the people I met. I think it would have been a good learning environment, but when I interviewed I didn't get a chance to speak with a fellow, so I couldn't really get the inside story.

Two years later, having spoken to a couple different people who were there, I think it would have been an excellent year. If you are looking at the program, I would recommend it.

There used to be non accredited cardiac fellowship programs where you would be an attending a few days a week and a fellow the other days. I dont think these exist anymore as most fellowships are now accredited, but wouldn't hurt to look into it.

There are lots of non-accredited programs on the SCA website. Not sure how to tell about moonlighting though.

Loma Linda CT fellowship has a great moonlighting gig at the near by VA. You can easily double your fellowship salary working 1-2 weekends a month.

Yep... those used to be awesome. I'm familiar with one that gave you >100k/yr for being a part time attending and part time CT Fellow.

Unfrotunately (or fortunately) it is now a ACGME accredited fellowship.. so that 100K is no more.
