LKSOM (Temple) vs University of Louisville

[Pre-med2019]

Tuition is not a factor. I am also absolutely fixed on dermatology as a speciality.

Temple

Pros

• Dream of mine to live in a big city. Philly has lots to do.
• Opportunity to possibly network and do research at Jefferson or Penn.
• whole curriculum (MS1-->MS4) is pass/fail
• More name recognition I think
• Good match list but only 3 derm faculty

Cons

• Area is apparently very dangerous and there's lots of crime.
• Subway commute most likely. 30 mins each way
• I can't take my car (

Louisville

Pros

• Virtually no commute.
• Larger derm faculty and possibly more matches by proportion (smaller class size). I think both did 4 last year
• M1/M2 pass fail w/ internal ranking

Cons

• Campus is old and outdated
• Not in the city
