I toured both of the schools last week. LMU-DCOM Harrogate is in a pretty secluded area. There isn’t a lot excitement until you get to Knoxville. Both campuses have the same resources on site, but Knoxville obviously has more to offer off campus than Harrogate does. The thing that stood out at LMU was the anatomy labs which were very nice. At Harrogate, you have access to all the undergrad resources including the rec center, which I didn’t see. Knoxville doesn’t have this same luxury, but they are partnered with a YMCA in the city that is included in your tuition.
CUSOM has more access to resources outside the campus like Duke, Chapel Hill, and Wake Forrest. The facilities are relatively new and pretty nice. I didn’t love the anatomy lab because it looks like a morgue compared to the LMU anatomy labs which feel more like a lab. I was very impressed with CUSOM’s sim lab. Walking in feels like a clinic and as you turn the corner, it looks just like an ER. CUSOM also has the mobile clinics which is a really great aspect, but they discourage any real participation in this or any clubs until you complete your first block. Like LMU Harrogate, they have access to all the undergrad resources. The student center was very nice with a lounge and a pretty nice rec center I was able to see.
The Campbell campus is big and pretty. It has kind of a Grecian architecture to it. LMU Harrogate is pretty as well and has more of a brick building style. Honestly, LMU Knoxville just looks like it used to be a medical associate’s office.
I’ve also done some house hunting online, and again Knoxville has much more to offer. There are some decent townhouse apartments close to Campbell’s campus, but there are many apartment complexes i was able drive by in Fuquay-Varina which is an easy 20 minutes north of campus.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
