Does the institution that gives you the loan monitor everything that you spend the money on? I was wondering if you can take out a little more just to be able to afford the certain "luxuries" that you want instead of living totally frugal. I am new to the whole loan process and was just wondering.

nope---the cash is direct deposited into your bank account, after school expensea removed. if you'd rather spend it on something other than books, rent, etc, then that's your business.
