Does anyone know how soon you need to start applying for loans for the Fall of '08? How long does it take to get everything approved?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated!!!

have you filled out your FAFSA? if not, do it asap. i think the website is fafsa.gov? if not, google it. fill it out even if you haven't done your taxes~you can fill it in later when your taxes are done.

Yeah, I just completed and submitted it this morning.

Really, even if you haven't done your taxes you can submit it? What have I been waiting for?

I presume that most students that get accepted into dental school doesn't have taxes to file, right? In that case, do you wait for your parents to file their taxes, then proceed with FASFA?

Why wouldn't we have to file taxes? I make money + I want a return = I file taxes.

Absolutely!! I wasn't saying that people shouldn't file their taxes, I just filed mine! However, I have a friend that received acceptance to dental school but still needs to graduate college and he has never held a job--- What does he do? Does he use his parents tax info? Thats what I meant!!

yes, if he's still a dependent of his parents or under the age of (23?), then he needs his parent's tax info.

Your dependent status for tax filing isn't really relevant to your status for the FAFSA. All graduate students are independent according to the FAFSA regardless of age or anything else. However, it is good to include parental information because lots of schools want it to see who gets school-funded grants/scholarships, and there is a loan program (Health Professional Loan?) for dental and other non-medical school people that requires it.

That's an interesting way to do it. You can correct the fafsa later.
