Anyone know what the options are for obtaining loans in May or June for the summer before M1? I'm hoping for $10K to furnish an apartment, buy a computer, etc. Basically, I want to take care of some year-one expenses while settling in a few months early. I know that the usual solution is to get a job, but this isn't really an option for me since I'm working on a couple of nonprofit projects with 0 salary.
As I understand it, financial aid is disbursed around the first day of class in early September (plus or minus a couple of weeks). Would I have to get a private loan that bypasses the FAO? Would this be possible, considering that I would not be officially enrolled yet? Is this even allowed?
I suppose I could get a credit card with a 0% introductory rate and pay it off once I receive loans in the fall, but I'd rather avoid that path - it seems too risky.
