I would like to learn more about loan forgiveness options. Are they available for most specialties or only selected specialties in rural locales? Is there a website with a directory of such programs?

If you are in a position to devote a minimum of 50% of your time to doing clinical research for a minimum of 2 years, you can submit an application to the NIH Loan Repayment Program: http://www.lrp.nih.gov

i am currently a participant in the NIH LRP, and it's a pretty good deal for people pursuing research careers.
