Loan Repayment for Working in Low Income Area.?

Kind of a dumb question, but what is the program called where you work in a low income area for 4/5 years and they pay off your student loans? I continually hear about this and have no clue what it’s called. Do you have to apply for this before dental school begins? (I’m assuming it’s very competitive).

You may be thinking of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment
Though there is no such program, to my knowledge, that actually "pays off" your loans (if your debt was low enough it could though).
