So I am working on finishing my secondary app for CCOM and I am attempting to answer why CCOM (in a nutshell).
As part of my answer I am currently planning on mentioning that I have strong ties to this geographical area (purchased house and husband's work) and with my preference to go osteopathic it leaves me with CCOM as my only osteo option in the area.
So that leads right back to the main question, is location a valid answer to the why ____ school question?

it's valid, certainly, though i would also suggest adding things about the school you might be particularly drawn to. the potential for a diverse patient base in your clinical rotations? the school's reputation as leader for the osteopathic social movement? those types of things that can all strengthen your response to that kind of prompt.

I would not say geography is your main reason for CCOM. I am sure a lot of people apply to CCOM because it is in Chicago.

i am not going to say that location is my main reason i am going to focus on osteopathy as my main reason location and supporting things i saw from my visit there as my secondary reasons.

When I went to CCOM (interviewed not as a student), it seemed like the students were very happy and were willing to help eachother survive.
