I was fortunate enough to get interviews at both BWH and MGH. I understand that comparing the two is rather useless as they are both great programs. However, I am not from the Boston area and was wondering about the location of these two programs.
Which one is more convenient for commuting by car (less traffic...)?
It seems like both programs don't have free parking. Which one is more convenient for commuting by public transportation?
Which one is located in a nicer area (restaurants, parks, events...)?
Which one is located in a cheaper area?
Which one would you pick based on the overall location/accessibility?

Thanks for your help

MGH is near Beacon Hill (great oysters) and North End (great Italian food) and is very accessible by the red line (MGH stop) or green lines (government center or north station stops). It's a really nice neighborhood and prices generally run higher in this area. You're also really close to Downtown/Boston Commons and you pretty much can get anywhere from the Park Street stop. BWH is in Brookline and also very accessible by the green line and also the 47 bus I believe. There's also a lot of good restaurants in Brookline and it's reasonably close to Kenmore and Allston/Brighton which has tons of food. Anyhow, the point is, I don't think getting to and fro from either of these hospitals will be an issue. I would probably say that MGH is in the nicer area but I think that's really a personal preference. Both hospitals are in prime locations and I really don't think you could go wrong with either one.

They are both accessible and steps away from the T (subway). Although parking isnt free both are pretty heavily subsidized by the programs if you require a car. MGH is further into the city and BWH is closer to some of the (nicer) suburbs. BWH feels more like a medical campus since its right next to more hospitals (BI, childrens) whereas MGH is a bit more urban. Housing is pretty expensive nearby both locations but still doable (if you are ok with a small place). If you have a family and need more room you'll probably need to live further from the hospitals.
