Taking an extra month to study and get a significantly better score by taking the MCAT when you are ready will benefit you more than worrying about a month of early application vs really early application.

Physiology will likely help none, and unless the 2015 MCAT is drastically different (could be), you should be able to study that semester without missing more than 5 questions (of 60) on that section BEFORE you finish class. Were I you, I'd at least study the other 2 sections all semester, then cram the last section, then take the MCAT on time. I wouldn't delay.

(Though I agree in principle with the above post.)

Thanks guys. What would be the ramifications though of being slightly delayed when it comes to interviews? From the time AMCAS is submitted (approximately) how long is it until you receive secondaries and how much longer until interviews offered. I'm sure this varies greatly by school but a generalization might be helpful.

Generally, the later date your interview is, the less chance of you getting admitted because schools offer acceptances on rolling basis (as the seats fills up, schools tend to be more reserved when offering additional acceptances).

From the date your AMCAS is verified, you can expect to receive secondaries in 1-2 weeks, then another 1-3 for interview invites and another 7-10 days for acceptance/ rejections/ waitlist. Of course, the later you submit your app, the timeline duration might get pushed back longer!

Thanks! That is super helpful!

Is it a general rule that most schools with rolling admissions let you know their decision within 7-10 days after the interview? I know University of Utah waits months before most notifications, but they aren't rolling.

No school can accept you until October 15th, and even after that the school can take as long as they want to let you know of their decision. An acceptance/rejection can come months after the interview, and some schools may not even bother notifying you at all if you got rejected

Send in your application without scores. It won't be delayed then. Write your personal statement now - there are no prompts.
