Should I state where I got an acceptance in my LOI? Or should I just say I’ve gotten an acceptance but not say where? Does it make a difference? Both schools (the one where I’ve been accepted and the one I’m waiting to hear back from post-interview and sending my LOI to are pretty good although the one I’m waiting to hear back from is slightly better as far as rankings and reputation go).

Int he age of MD schools flying as blind as DO schools, I think that if you have an accept at a higher class school and want to attend one of a different class, then it's OK to name the accept. Otherwise, don't think that med schools will think that you're hot stuff just because you have one accept. Yale won't care if you have an accept to CNU. Jefferson or Gtown will like the idea of you turning down Yale for them, however. Jeff won't care if you have an accept at Drexel.

Appreciate the advice! I guess I’d rather just be specific to get better advice. So the school I have not heard back from and intend to send a letter of interest is Mayo. I wouldnt really send one but from what I gathered at Interview day is they really like letters because I think it helps them figure out how to best build their class. The school I have been accepted to is Case Western. I’m grateful for the acceptance but I’m not sure which one I want to attend yet (due to a variety of factors) so I’m planning on sending a letter of interest to Mayo. So now my question is should I state that I got an acceptance to Case but still am highly considering mayo or should I just say I have an acceptance but not state it is at Case.

I think you have your answer -- #9 is not going to care that you have an acceptance at #24! 🙂

Mayo is so crazy difficult to get into, does anyone really think they are even receptive to LOIs at all? If so, I would list all the reasons you would attend if accepted, but wouldn't mention the school if it isn't Harvard or Stanford, etc. As the great @Goro said, they won't be impressed, so it won't do anything for you.

Mayo is one of those needy schools; send the update.
