Hey All...
Well, this is my first time posting here!!!! Kinda nervouse...
I have been trying to write a personal statement for LOMA LINDA..
And one of the questions is about the Christian teaching and Seventh-day Advantist church..
Personally I am not a religious person and come from a very non-religious background..
My real encounter with religion was during my undergrad in a Catholic University which was pretty pleasant...
But I was doing some research on the S.D.A on internet and it seemed like they are not really keen on cathalism..
My question is :" Should I mention going to Catholic school and having a very good experience in a religious setting for LOMA Linda University or not?"
Is there anybody who have been accepted to Loma Linda and is studying there?
BTW: Is it getting really competitive to get into Loma Linda or it still hasn't catch on with the rest of Ca, schools???
P.S: Will fall grades have any impact on admission in California? Since the deadline for schools is Nov?

I wouldn't emphasize too heavily going to a Catholic school. Some Adventists hold strong anti-Catholic views. Loma Linda is open to applicants of all religious backgrounds, but I'm just mentioning this for your consideration...

From Wikipedia:

"...there are a number of conservative Adventists who hold staunchly anti-Roman Catholic views."

Catholic.com view on Seventh-Day Adventism:

LLU is very competitive now. This last year alone, their applicant pool doubled. 🙁

How competative did it get? ANyone know the average GPA admitted?

I am fellow cali resident and hope to stay one, Touro admitted studnets w/ a 3.1 last year. I am I am applying there next year b4 they get very competative too.

LLU is now accredited, right?

How long does it take for a school to get accredited?

I think until the first class graduates they can be accredited. LLU is accredited. Not sure on GPAs, but it doesnt sound hopeful.

I've talked to the pharmacy admissions and they said that their average GPA for last year was 3.25; they accepted 65 out of ~ 1000 applications.

I'm about to apply and just wondering if you guys know of anyone who are Buddist and got accepted into their pharmacy program? I'm not sure if it matters what religious background you have?? just curious.....

I guess the acceptance is NOT largely based on GPA since a 3.25 doesn't seem to be very competitive.

I probably would try to de-emphasize religion unless you are a SDA.
