As we go into the fall season, I picture family, football, and cookouts. While I am getting prepared today to watch NOTRE DAME 👍 win some football, I was thinking about the future. I thought that once I get into medical school there wont be these fall events that I look forward to every year. It will be replaced with studying, rotations, and medical school insomnia! This will last from the time I apply to the time im done with residency or further. I was wondering what you'll thought about this barrier to the social world? How do we cope with the fact that there will be no more late night cookouts, football and spending time with our family?......

Life doesn't end when you start medical school and it certainly doesn't during applications??? A bunch of my classmates drove to Gainesville this weekend (2.5 hours) for some football shenanigans and we are in our second month of school. Myself and two other classmates all flew North for the weekend to hang out with our families. Being busy does not mean you stop having fun or doing the things that matter most to you. At least in first year 😉

I also believe we are totally beating Notre Dame ATM, Just saying.

You can do those things in med school.

You just can't do them in residency.

There's more free time than I thought-thanks for the reply!

Also, I cant believe Notre Dame lost!! We'll have the victory next year :xf:

I'm 6 weeks into school and I actually have more free time than I did in college. Don't get me wrong, it's a ton of work, but I was working 30 hours per week, going to school, and volunteering in undergrad. This will undoubtedly change as time goes on, but as of right now it's not too bad. Med school is actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Well, there's also the stories of surgeons on their third marriage...
