From birth to age 22, I must have been to their ER at least 75+ times and I have to say that they were always excellent.
 
Rotated at LIJ ED on elective way back when...
loved the faculty, very good teaching, cool residents, decent part of NYC to live in.
 
LIJ good faculty. From my EM friends, I hear EM PD there is an awesome teacher. They give you a stipend toward housing if you don't live next to the hospital. It is possible to do the reverse commute from manhattan (ie live in manhattan). Especially for an EM residency with predictable hours (give or take 1-2 hours).
