Hello Everyone!! My ultimate goal is to become a dermatologist or PA in derm and live in italy 3 months (vacation)every year. My 1st day on this long journey is August 18th. I will be going to community college then transferring to University.
I want to get a Bachelors in Anthropology because i just love everything about human culture past and present
however if for some reason i dont make it to med school or PA school for whatever reason i want to have a plan b.
My plan b is to move to italy. So while im in community college is to get an Associates in International Buisness. The reason for that is so i can have job opportunities while im overthere. I speak english, spanish fluently. Also some italian. i have been to italy and i just cant get enough.
My work options could be endless with a BA anthroplogy and international buisness degree. (i have looked and researched) any where from archeologist to business person
I am also aware that its difficult for a non EU citizen to get a job but quite easy if you havee degrees and work for big companies.

What do you guys think? ANYONE DO SOMETHING SIMILAR OR TRYING TO?

My wife and I would like to have you over for Xmas dinner in 2035.

Seriously, just focus on college for now.

You are way too all over the place. If you want to become a physician (NOT a dermatologist, because this is too competitive of a specialty to decide on as simply a premed), then take the prereq's and see how you do. Then apply to med school. All that nonsense about International Business and moving to Italy sounds like a bunch of crazy talk (or troll talk).

And by the way, individuals who are 150% committed on Plan A never end up using their Plan B.

The plan B forum is over on reddit.

Kidding aside, your plans seem pretty lustrous and, well, slightly incompatible with at least what I think the life of a physician is like. I could be wrong, it may be possible, but I do know that for the both of us, should we become doctors, the next 10-15 years of life won't afford the luxury of frequent vacations abroad. Thats a reality you pretty much need to accept, and focus on building excellent study habits and a competitive application.

OP, I suggest you take it one step at a time and explore your interests thoroughly before committing to anything. It's ok to change your mind and change directions and have backup plans. But I think that one of the worst things a young person can do is box themselves into a particular pathway, be it Italy, anthropology, dermatology or what have you.

So, go to CC, take a combination of classes that interest you and that are practical from an employment standpoint and bust your butt and do well. Near the end of that, take what you've learned and evaluate your next step at that point. Again, bust your tail and do well. Rinse and repeat, but continually evaluate the direction you want to go, how realistic it is, and what you need to do to get there.

Life happens. Sometimes plan A isn't as great as you thought it would be, your priorities in life change, or you realize you just don't have the physical or mental aptitude necessary to do something. A lot of people aspire to play in the NBA - is everyone who doesn't make it just not committed enough?

You're suffering from what many smart people do at your age- a surplus of possibilities. Failure takes things off of your plate- D in micro? Can't do nursing or PA without a retake. 20 on your MCAT? Med school is probably out of the picture without a lot of work or a retake. But when you get nothing but good grades and positive feedback, every door stays open. You could be a physician or a lawyer or an anthropologist, the sky is the limit. Trouble is, young people suck at picking a direction and just going with it.

You need to figure out one or two things that are your highest priority and work toward them. If Italy is your priority, being a PA is out. You will be an employee as a PA and likely max out at four weeks of vacation, so that's a bad route. An associates in international business is damn near worthless unless you're an entrepreneur, something you won't have the capital for early on in life. Anthropology isn't exactly a useful degree so far as international marketability, but won't hold you back from med school.

You need to pick an Associates degree that incorporates as many transferable or medical prereqs as possible.

Figure out your priorities and pick a degree that fits. Good luck.

One step at a time mate. Do well at your CC and take all of your prereqs. If you're still interested in med school, transfer to a 4-year and maintain a high GPA. Keep all of your doors open and don't burn any bridges.

If Italy is your ultimate goal, look into European med schools. EU certification would obviously be essential.

Have fun, stay focused and you'll get there eventually :)

That doesn't really make any sense.

Take it one step at a time. It's entirely possible to accomplish your goals, but right now you have no idea of what you're getting yourself into. Matching Dermatology is incredibly hard (just med school or PA school is already incredibly hard), being an Archeologist with just a BA is next to impossible and an AA won't give you enough training to be the type of business person in a big company that'll get you EU citizenship. I'm not trying to put your dreams down, but you really have to take it a step at a time. Many of us remember freshman year when everyone wanted to double major and double minor in sciences and engineering.
