To the people who have recently taken Step 1:

What's all this scariness I've been reading about how the question stems are ridiculously long with tons of lab values??

Has this actually been the case for people?

If it's true, can one apply the tick of disregarding a lot of the information to still answer the question?

What exactly is it that's making the questions more difficult than UWorld and NBMEs? 😕

I didnt find the stems ridiculously long. oh EXCEPT for the behavioral sciences questions which really had long stories. I would advise that the moment you see a long-ish stem, read carefuly and slowly and highlight keypoints so you dont have to read again.

Generally if there were lab values, the questions were as long as any i'd seen on UW.

At the end of each block i ended up with just 3-5 minutes left, all questions answered, 8-10 marked and managed to go through 3-5 of the marked ones. I rarely changed marked answers though.

Awesome. I really hope I have a similar experience. Thanks for the response and putting me a bit more at ease
