Hii

I'm looking for a book that explains pathophysio behind signs, symptoms, lab and imaging in a short and sweet manner. So that i can correleate them.

If it can explain why certain things increases risk then it'd be nice.

I know harrison does what it want but it is too lengthy and time-consuming.

Thanks

What you just said was "I want to know everything I have to know about everything but dont want to spend the time to read about it." Im pretty sure you are going to have to do more work than you want to, but thats life as a physician, if you want to be a physician at all.

Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment is shorter and easier than harrisons.

Step-up has no explanations, but can certainly give you the foundations.

Bates' Guide to Physical Examination links the physical exam to pathophysiology, but not laboratories.

I thought that Goljan's Rapid Review Path was really great at explaining why a person would have certain signs/symptoms/labs. I'd recommend it. But I guess any path review book would be what you're looking for.

I know but there is only so much time in a day to go thru that book. I try to read harrison about disease my pt has.

It'll be nice to know info in few lines as i study for step2 (I'm giving next year) because it'll help with retention. I can always go into detail in harrisons prn.

i'll try Current medical book. thnx

i use it prn.

Your best bet for on-the-fly learning is uptodate.com

Your hospital should have access to it.

This is a different question. For this case, you want a pocket book while your on the wards. For this purpose I would recommend

USMLE Secrets Step 2. Excellent and tiny, perfect for step 2.

Pocket Medicine (the "red book" now the "green book"). You're going to buy this anyway for intern year, but it is above Step 2, and more focused for life. It also is limited in its usefulness, since there are acronyms they make up, and is generally useful only if you have the underlying knowledge you are brushing up on.
