Hello all,
I have a few questions -
1) I'm completing my internship still and will be looking for job after 4-5 more months. (I'm not a US citizen and I need employers to file a work visa for me.) I hear that the current job market is really bad. How soon do I need to start looking for a job?
2) I'm currently in CA and will get a CA license. My preference would be to stay back in CA. I hear that SoCal is saturated, but there are still jobs in northern CA and in Palm springs etc. If I look for a job in CA, what are some of the places with better chances of landing a job?
3) I'm very open to going outside CA. What are some of the states (and if you know cities) where there are more job openings? Currently I hold a valid intern license from CA and Washington. I'm open to applying for some other state's license as well (based on replies to this Q)
4) To look for a suitable job - I'm currently using online job hunting resources, word of mouth (where I go for internship). I was wondering if anyone has tried using headhunters? Any recommendations?

I'm new to this job hunting field. Any tips, advice is useful and very welcomed.

Thank you

Thank you WVU, I have read your posts before and was hoping to get a reply from you. If I get licensed in CA can I transfer my license (get licensed in this rust belt states) by reciprocity? I heard that CA doesn't reciprocate with any other state so other states don't reciprocate with CA either.
Is there a way around this? Can I transfer my internship hours and NAPLEX score to these states from CA?
Thanks again

You will have to move somewhere undesirable. No one will sponsor your visa if there are other applicants that are citizens. Sorry but the truth. Most likely you will have to work for walgreens in some city they can't find anyone to work. I would sign on as soon as possible because the longer u wait the less oppurtunity you will have.

Well over half of our physician staff is foreign educated at my current hospital, with only 2 or 3 pharmacy staff being foreign born.

If you are willing to put in your time, the area really shouldn't matter. There are many places in America willing to take pharmacists at this very moment.

Middle states are best. I work at one of my school's alumni offices and I notice a lot of job offers in Wisconsin, Ohio, etc. Good luck!

Thanx everyone for your replies.
