I would imagine the same as a social fraternity- a social group of people with similar interests, old review materials, study groups, connections for internships and jobs. I'm planning on rushing Kappa Psi in the fall... it'll be interesting to see how it compares to the process of rushing my undergrad fraternity. Probably not nearly as painful, lulz.

Yea Im looking into rushing as well but I hope it's not gonna take up as much time as a rushing an undergrad frat will. I mean they should understand that your in a time consuming grad school.

I just added a publicly joinable group for Kappa Psi on SDN. The badge is not uploaded yet. But, once it is all of us who are group members will have a Kappa Psi badge on the forums. 🙂

SDN only adds organization badges after obtaining consent from the national organization, since the logos are copyrighted and we want to maintain good relationships with all orgs. If you have a contact you can refer me to, I'd be glad to touch base with other groups to see if they would like their members to be able to opt into badges on SDN. Personally, I think it's cool to see what groups people are involved in. It would be up to the org whether or not their group would be publicly joinable or whether they would want to appoint a representative to verify member status when requests are made.

If this topic gets any bigger, I'll split off badge related discussion, to allow this thread to continue to be used as a KY roll call thread.

To add the icon, go to My Account ---> Group Memberships OR visit here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/profile.php?do=editusergroups

Then, fill in the "join group" bubble next to Kappa Psi and hit the "Join Group" button at the bottom.

It's supposed to be publicly joinable, but I just had to approve a member. Let me know whether it says "Anyone is free to join this usergroup" or "Requests to join must be approved by a group leader." It should just let you join without approval. But, I'll keep processing approvals if the system is being buggy.
