I've applied to Dental School this cycle and I am just wondering how I can apply to the army scholarships in the US?

Also I'm Canadian would that have an impact?

If someone could also post some pros/cons for each branch it would be great!

Thanks.

You need US citizenship to apply for the scholarship.

The dentist that I am shadowing atm is Canadian but he was able to get a scholarship when he specialized.

Do you know how this would be possible?

Are we talking about the HPSP scholarship, or something else?

May be there's a way to obtain a similar scholarship without being commissioned, because citizenship is required to be commissioned to become an officer.

Some time ago there was a pilot program that allowed non-citizens to join with some commitment and then they'd be eligible for citizenship very quickly (I think it was something like a year). As I understand, that pilot program is currently on hold for a moment for "evaluation." I am not sure when they'll start it again.

Hmm I'm not really sure..
I'll be sure to ask him this Friday haha.

Hopefully there's still something for Canadians because I don't want to be 300-400K in debt 🙁

Army HPSP requires US citizenship. Loan repayment in the Army reserves requires a green card - they do not offer anything during dental school. Not sure about what the National Guard will take (Citizen or green card).
