Alright, so I'm back home from the summer. -I've got a job, am signing up to volunteer at the local hospital and started yoga classes. The only thing missing is some good summer reading. I don't mean just your classic everyone loves to read book, but a good medical type book to keep my mind going and also help me out for the road ahead.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Atul Gawande - Complications
Atul Gawande - Better
Samuel Shem - House of God
Sandeep Jauhar - Intern

Of Human Bondage by William Somerset Maugham - Even though it was written 80 years ago, it's possibly one of the best books I've ever read about someone taking time off before matriculating into medical school.

Samuel Shem - House of God
Howard Brody- Hooked

After those two, you will be educated enough to switch careers.

I liked both of Gawande's books. He has a lot of articles that you can read online too, so you could check those out first.

If you don't know Michael Chrichton, then you should!
He's written many medical thrillers. He was also the guy who wrote Jurrasic Park (amazing book, a lot better than the movie)
One book of his you should really check out is Prey. A thriller!! One of his best, I'd say.

Yeah, I read that. I don't know how I feel about nano-robots anymore :scared:

Farmer - Pathologies of Power

gives great insight into the structural inequalities that exist for the poor, and how that manifests in unnecessary suffering/disease. Very well written book from an amazing physician

I really appreciate such a great response, I am looking forward to taking a closer look at these books and reading them!
If anyone else has any great book ideas, feel free to keep adding to the list. :]
