Looking for these programs

I'm trying to find out some information on three programs since I never really see much mentioned. Specifically OHSU (Oregon), Santa Barbara and UC Irvine. Are they all at the same level of competitiveness? What type of scores would typically land an interview? Is any one better than the other in terms of teaching and case load?

If not, those can be tough interviews to land. OHSU probably the toughest by far, then UCI, then SB. I think it is difficult to say numbers there because some seem to be more regionally influenced than others. It's weird. Oregon in particular seems to be very solid, it's a desirable location, so they would attract a lot of good applicants from anywhere. However, they have so few spots and so many strong local / regional applicants that they would be happy with, I think it is tough to break in from the outside. Most I have interviewed with have gotten interviews with received interviews at UCI or SB if they applied (not really Oregon so much). They have good stuff (I'm sure most are 240 +) though, which makes it hard to say what you really need. Although UCI and SB don't seem to be as regionally biased, they both get good applicants because of location.

So would it be prudent to do an away elective at OHSU since I'm not from the West? I think they evaluate an application for a clerkship and only allow those that they would consider competitive for an interview to do an away elective there. I'm not in the 240's so I'm hoping to get an opportunity to get out there and shine.

I get so tired of this "We only want people from the region" crap from programs. Guess what, the West is the best and people want to live there.

I went to interview at Santa Barbara last week and really enjoyed it. I got an interview there w a 233 and "ok" grades (no AOA). From me talking to the coordinator, they take 2 people (looks like it will be 3 in the future) and interview around 60 (atleast this year). That shouldnt deter you though. I felt like my interview at SB was like a vacation. Good food, awesome weather, mountains, the beach, cool faculty and residents. You gotta check it out.

What else? really nice PACs, cool residents and laid back faculty. It's a community program and seems like a lot of people who did there residency at SB come back as faculty. Please feel free to PM me if u got any more questions.
