Are your LOR's directed to a generic "to whom it may concern", or did those who are writing them for you make a separate one for each school and address each school's cmte individually?

I'm not sure if I should just send them all out with "to whom it may concern", or have the doc do a separate "To the Admissions Committee of the Kirksville...." etc etc etc

Something like: 'Admissions Committee: ' is fine I'm sure. I know my recommenders only printed one version of the letter for all my schools.

I made a generic outline for referrees to fill out.. and gave them labelled and stamped envol.

I don't expect my evaluators to spend the whole day writing to each specific institution and prob loose one day of salary. For a couple of them that would mean 1000$.

My opinion .. I don't know how the schools look at this approach.. but so far it seems okay. Good luck.

Some of my writers chose to address it to: Admissions committee or something of the like. However, the physician that is writing letters for me asked for names of people to address each individual letter to--as he felt this would show his dedication and more sincerity in his letter.

I would leave it up to the evaluator...but I am sure either way would be fine.

Thanks for everyone's responses. He just left it with a generic "to the admissions officers"...or something to that effect.

I keep stressing over the small details. In reality, though, I don't think something like that will make or break my application. With all the letters they get I'm sure there's a variety of ways they are addressed. IT's the context of the letter that is most important.
