Most of the schools I am applying to require an LOR from 2 science professors and one non-science professor. I am getting LOR's from my Bio II and Orgo II professors so science professors are taken care of. My 3rd LOR is coming from a professor with whom I took 3 classes: biological psychology, cognitive psychology, and parapsychology. I listed biological psych and cognitive psych as science courses on aacomas due to the content of the courses. However, he is a Professor of Psychology in the Psychology department but has a Ph.D in cognitive neuroscience. I have also done research with him for 3+ years now. Long story short, can his LOR count as a non-science professor?

Most schools probably won't notice as they will see psychology and think nonscience. One class was, so if asked you could say the prof was both.

I've taught science and nonscience psychology classes and my letters have always been used as nonscience and I've never heard anyone complain, even when sent to the committee for their letter. Adcoms have better things to worry over imo.

Good luck

Thank you! I just didn't want to get all the way to the end and the schools say that none of my LOR's fit that category. I'm sure it will work out fine. Good luck to you as well!
