Hi my dentist wrote me a letter of recommendation and he showed it to me yesterday. The letter doesn't include how many hours I have completed. It does say that I started shadowing from XX year and my involvement and enthusiasm towards dentistry. So, do you guys think it's necessary that dentist include number of hours I shadowed?

I have done 150 hours.

No. You can enter than in your application.

ok I thought dentist had to include number of hours for adcoms to verify that the number of hours entered by student is correct?

You're allowed to see the letter they wrote?

Nope, they just use the honor system.

Yes, there's an option in LOR section that asks you if you waive the right to see it or not.

Does not seeing it provide some sort of advantage? Why even use that option

If you want to apply to Tufts though, you want him to include the number of hours, because they require proof in the form of a letter from a general practice dentist who you have shadowed under for more than 40 hours.

thanks everyone,

bump anyone else

No it doesn't matter unless you apply to Tufts. If it's not included and you apply to Tufts, they told me last year that they'll call and confirm.

ok thanks I don't think I will be applying to tufts anyway because I have CC credits.

CC=Community College right? Is it less likely to get acceptance from Tufts with CC credits?

yes from what I've read on SDN, tufts and temple don't accept cc credits.
