What do schools mean when they say that they won't accept letters of recommendation submitted by students? I ask because to speed up the LOR process, I have asked my submitters to send letters signed and sealed to me, so that I can send them to schools directly, instead of having to call the recommendors every time I get a secondary app. The envelopes will be sealed in official university envelopes, the only thing is that they will be sent from a post office in my state rather than from the universities where my recommendors work. Any advice?

I'm assuming that it's okay as long as you do not put your name in the sender's area. Along that line, I sent my LOR writers prestamped envelopes with my name written in the sender's area so I don't know how that would look. Does anyone know?

It still has you as the return address, so how are they supposed to know the difference?

No it wasn't, which is why I posted what I did in my first reply. They're not going to know that you didn't submit it unless (a) they evaluate the postmark or (b) they believe you or your professors. You might wanna do something to change the arrangement.

Yeesh!

The envelopes my recommendors sent me were sealed and had their return addresses typed in the return address part. I will send them to schools from the post office. Will this be kosher?
