I checked the box which says I waive the right to see the letter on my CAS. I had all my doctors sign the back of the envelope, but i didnt inform them the reason why is because I am waiving this right. Will PDs call and verify with the doctors that I waived the right, or is it not really a big deal? I am kinda wondering, because I really do not want to check the box that says I desire access to these letters. What do you guys think I should do???
Thanks

Most Attendings are aware of the waivers and will include a comment in the letter if you decied to waive the right to view it or not. The waiver should have been included in the envelope. If you did not hand the waiver form to them prior to accepting the sealed envelope, I suggest you contact them and tell them about your confusion and maybe hand the original sealed envelopes back to them for repackaging. Of course the envelopes should have their personal office/ letter head on it for authenticity.

I don't think you have to include the waiver with the LOR- for CAS. For ERAS, you have to include the ERAS cover letter with the waiver included. For CAS (at least for ophtho) you just have to check the box. Our school suggests having the letter writer include that you waived your right to see the letter in the letter itself. I am not sure how important this since you have already checked the box. SF match suggests having the envelopes be from the letter writers- but not sure if this matters either to programs- since SF match opens the letters and then scans them. So I wouldnt stress too much. If your writers are still writing, have them write you waived your right in the letter and leave it at that.

Correct you are. CAS just requires you to check off the box if you waive to see your LOR, no form needs to be in the actual envelop. As for ERAS, you just have to print out that LOR waiver form and hand it to student affairs (at least that's what I have to do). All the LOR writers understand you are waiving your right to see the letter and all of them generally send it directly to student affairs.
