Hi,

I'm currently in a Masters Program and the department head just wrote me a letter of recommendation. I'm sending it schools that I haven't heard back from, but my question is, should I send it to schools that I already have interview invites from (have not attended interview yet). I'm pretty sure the letter is generic because we have not had most of our grades posted as of yet.

Thanks for the reply.

The letter is generic, but it's explaining what my program is, etc. If I upload the letter to AMCAS and add schools for the letter, does AMCAS automatically send out the letter to the individual schools? Or do the schools have to request it from AMCAS? Am I better off just sending the letter directly through Interfolio?

I'm not entirely sure, but my understanding is that the schools must download the letters automatically, i.e., I don't think the letters are "pushed" to the school automatically. The schools that I interacted with requested that applicants let them know if they're sending additional materials to the school.

You can probably use Interfolio or AMCAS; if you're not sure, I would just get in touch with the individual schools and see if they have a preference.

Good luck.

I think Nick meant "manually" at the bolded.

OP, you'll have to send your letter through AMCAS in some way. You can do that either by letter writer>Interfolio>AMCAS>Med school or letter writer>AMCAS>Med school

I've been complete at this schools for a long time and they already have my original letters of recommendation. I just uploaded the new letter to AMCAS and selected the schools to receive it. I also have the letter uploaded to Interfolio.

So should I send the letters out through Interfolio to make sure the schools receive them in case they don't download them from AMCAS?

Thanks again for all the replies
