Hi guys! I have several questions regarding uploading the LOR:

1) Just want to make sure that since I have received scanned copies of the letter from my letter writers, I can upload them myself onto oasis? Any special requirements other than pdf format?

2) Under "request a letter of recommendation", do i have to fill out a request??? B/c I already contacted my letter writers individually ... but do I have to enter their information anyways? I'm not sure how this works..

3) This is regarding the LOR on ERAS. If I get them uploaded on oasis, do I still have to do it on ERAS? how do I do that? And again, do I need to fill out the information for each letter writer?

Sorry if for asking these straightforward questions, but sometimes i get stuck on the small obstacles.
Thanks and would really appreciate an answer soon!😀

I thought the letter writer is the one who's supposed to upload the letter? I'm not familiar with oasis but my impression was you're supposed to request LOR on ERAS and ERAS will give you the LOR request form, which you give to your letter writer and your letter writer will upload the letter.

I guess if you already have the scanned copies, you can just upload it yourself to ERAS...but then did you waive the right to see it?

Yes, you can upload your own letters. Obviously you've seen them, so they are not waived. You will need to "create slots" for each of the letters (putting the LOR writer's name in), and generate the cover letters. On the cover lettr will be a link to upload the letter (each with a separate code that makes sure the right letter goes into the right slot).

It's very easy, except that there is a 500k limit on the size of uploaded letters. My experience (with my residents applying via ERAS to fellowships, where the process was identical) is that letters scanned into a PDF file are often over 500K if they are more than 1.5 pages long. When I wrote letters for my residents, I generated a PDF from Word itself so files were smaller -- but a funky font in my letterhead caused problems with large files. Anyhoo, the process is straightforward, you just might need to tinker with the settings on your scanner to make sure the letter is less than the max size.
