I am wrapping up one of my EM rotations. One of the attendings is writing me a letter of rec. I was looking at the SLOR and it asks for the breakdown of grades given for the previous year. The ED I am working in does not keep a record of grades. Is it ok for the attending to skip that question or should I abandon the SLOR and have her just provide the letter (she plans to attach a letter to the SLOR)?

You definately want the SLOR, it makes it a lot easier for the programs to evaluate you. If they can, just have them "guess" the record of the grades. Or, well, just skip the question, or wirte n/a. You needt he sLOR though!

Thanks!
Quinn, I sent in my application for an elective at USF this AM. Hopefully they will have an opening. It will be nice to get back to Tampa for a month. Cappy's pizza and a beer...simply the best!

Damn! I might just have to go pick up some Cappy's pizza to go now. THanks for ruining my diet.

Hope you make it here... you'll have a fun time while you're at our place (IMHO).

I have another follow up question. The attending who is writing my letter said he wants to do it soon while everything is fresh in his head. I just looked on the CORD website and the SLOR is for the 2003-2004 application season. He wants me to bring everything to him on Tuesday. Can I use the 2003-2004 form? Do they make many changes to these froms year to year?
I don't know whether to tell him to hold off writing my letter even though he wants to do it ASAP or just give him the 03-04 SLOR?
What to do?

I would go aheand and use the CORD SLOR that you can give the attending now, no reason to wait, plus you don't want any snags along the way. It won't make a difference, I don't think, what year the SLOR is from!

Yeah, what Quinn said. Good. Do it now. Any changes will probably be minor.

Hi,
Do all the recs need to be in SLOR format, or just the ones from EM people? And, where do I get a copy of the format of the SLOR for my letter writers? Thanks!
