Hi all,

I graduated from my undergrad in 2018 with a GPA of 3.9, but took several years off before taking my MCAT. I then went into a Master's program for Public Health at the end of 2020, and graduate this September. What did not occur to me is that public health is a soft science and does not count as a science LOR. Does anyone have experience in whether or not medical schools will take LORs from professors in my masters program?

I have a non-science bachelors and a MA in counseling and a post-bacc cert in biomed sciences. I see some of the schools I applied to want a LOR from someone on masters defense committee so I asked a prof from my masters for that and used a committee letter from the post-bacc. If you took your pre-reqs in your bachelors program, maybe tracking down your profs from those courses and getting 3+ of those may fulfill the LOR for most schools. Checking with some of your top choices and seeing what exceptions they will make might be helpful. Good luck!
