Hey-
So Im a non-trad student, and getting in touch with old science profs is pretty tricky...considering I live out of state now. Does anyone know how an admissions committee might look at a non-science professor LOR as compared to not having a LOR from a science prof?? Or the other option is my employer, an MD and a DPM.... Then I wouldnt have any science prof letter-which I think would hurt me, but I would also think that a good letter from someone who knows me well would help. Any thoughts?

The only way you can know for sure how a certain school would view your situation is to call and ask. 👍

The dude from FL makes a good point...I would definitely call since most programs REQUIRE letters from science profs or your institution's pre-health committee.

Oh, and if you're applying to Western make sure you have 2 letters from podiatrists...🙄

whats a pre-health committee letter?

Which one is better LOR? from prof. I took one yr of gen chem with in freshmen yr or prof. I took one science class with in senior yr?

Call the schools and ask. One of my classmates was in your situation last year and admissions accepted other letters of rec in place of the faculty or pre-health committee letter. His employer (health field) wrote one of the letters and he also had a few DPMs too. Admissions is really friendly at each school and it never hurts to start communicating with them before you apply. 👍

whats a pre-health committee letter?

Some undergrad colleges have a specific committee tasked with, among other things, writing letters of rec for pre health students in lieu of individual professor letters.
Although I think you could still seek out individual letters, some med schools require the committee letter if your school provides them.

Yeah your institution should have designated "pre-med" advisors who make up the pre-med/health committee. They write what the application services and schools call "committee letters". The letter has a certain format (like a standardized letter), which has been designated by allopathic admissions committees who say, "this is what we want, if you'd like your student to have a fighting chance at our school then you'll write your letter however we want you to in order to make our lives easier...thank you, have a nice day!"
