Hey all, I'll be interviewing at USC/Keck and Kaiser by the time the season is over. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on those programs.

What I've heard:

Kaiser: Super clinical, supposedly has the highest volume after MDA (this is just something I heard on the trail)

USC: Haven't heard much - just whatever I've seen on older threads. Like KP, also very busy, covers LAC.

Does anyone have any current insights into the happiness of the residents, quality of training/mentors, post-residency job placement, etc, etc?

I'm not sure volume is the biggest strength of MDA. In fact, I wonder if it's even considered a high-volume place to train. I spent a month there and while it was a phenomenal experience, the residents definitely saw way fewer patients than anywhere else I rotated (five other institutions). Granted, MDA as an institution has high volume, but due to the number of faculty and size of their residency program, on an individual basis, I personally wouldn't consider it high volume. But there's a chance my experience wasn't representative..

I rotated there as well, and I'd agree with that. I think what ppl say about KP is that the volume is high for both the institution and the residents, b/c it is a smaller program.

I'll also be interviewing at USC and would like some input. I know the volume is high, but how is it from an education v. scut standpoint?
