Lose hardship deferr if filing jointly

I'm about to start my 07 taxes and got married last year. One co-resident said they had to file separately to keep the hardship deferrment. I owe 200k in debt and combined my sig and I make 90k. Anyone out there know what it takes to qualify/lose qualification?

it's based on your income alone. You need not send in a copy of your 1040, just send in a copy of your paycheck.
