... just curious, does that ever happen? and how?

Of course it can happen. If the school found out you lied to them in your application, most of them, if not all, reserve the right to not admit you anymore. As well as, if you do not finish the required pre-reqs before school begins, you can't attend too.

I might happen if someone got arrested for DUI, drug possession or any felony after acceptance. It all depends on the circumstances.

Happened to me this year. I was admitted to Purdue with three Cs and told that if I recieved a fourth, I would be history. I recieved that fourth C in Organic 2. I am aware that there are at least three other students in my same situation at Purdue. I don't think this helps you, because you didn't elaborate on your circumstances. Your lack of details suggests foul play is at hand.
oh no 🙁

Please don't speculate or make assumptions about other people's situations as withholding information doesn't necessarily suggest foul play. Perhaps they don't want to shame themselves here even if this is supposed to be an "anonymous" board. Still, the anonymity of this board isn't great enough for everybody to go into detail about their situation even if other people do it.🙂

To the OP, revoked admission offers can happen if you do not fulfill the requirements by the school by a certain date during the summer. Aside from the entry requirements you should have examined prior to applying, the acceptance letter also details other requirements. As you've just read, some schools will revoke your seat if your last semester didn't fulfill requirements. Some schools may require you just to earn grades above a C or C-, some may have a higher GPA requirement, and some requirements are tailor-made to the student.

I actually worried about getting my offer rescinded myself because I was struggling with Human Anatomy in my last semester after getting accepted. Though those worries were in paranoia and ended up working out as I passed the class, it was a concern.

So, rescinded acceptances do occur. Normally, schools have to review your grades and criminal history statuses during the summer. Also, Justherewhynot's suggestion of foul play does lead to acceptances being pulled too. Recently, an accepted applicant told his roommate that he forged a LOR. The school found out about it through this SDN board and the roommate's whistle blowing, and the applicant had his admission revoked.

thanks for the detailed response and others 👍 i was just concerned w/ a class that i'm taking right now that i don't need... and found out that while some schools ask for Cs or better, my prospective school may require a certain GPA... that's all.

didn't know being vague on the forum could cause offense... haha.
